Getting settled in

Now that we are moved in we have already found a place that we like to hang out in. Our favorite place for walks and enjoying outdoors is Forest Park. The park is just a five minute walk from our apartment. So far things are going well. We have to get used to living on the 6th floor. A walk from the car with groceries is a major task now. Doggy boys seem to be adjusting pretty well to city life themselves.

I have all of my books, and have already started studying. Looking at the schedule this is going to be a tough summer, but I am ready--bring it!

Happy Mother's Day

Well my first official Mother's Day was spent trying to get settled in and resting. I slept half of the day, because I was so tired from our travels and moving.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there!

Moving

It was a long ride (about 12 hours) and a hard move, but we made it! Terrance unloaded a 5'8' trailer up to the 6th floor by himself not to mention after driving all night long.

Micah finally said MAMA

Not only did he say mama, but he showed me his first wave. I got so excited that I scared him a little. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing, because I have been trying to get this boy to say mama for a while.

Micah is 9 months old

Sorry it took so long to get this posted for the faithful viewers. At his 9 month Well Baby exam he weighed 20 lbs. 7 oz. and he is 28 in.

Micah is growing up so fast. It seems like he is learning how to do many things all at once. Just before turning 9 months on the 15th of April he started crawling, as if he has been crawling forever. So now his new thing is to crawl over to whatever he can hold on to and pull up. He has been scaring the mess out of us, because he is bold and will let go. Micah has good balance, but it is thrown off because he wants to do everything so fast. He now says Dada, Mama, hey, hi and no no no. When we laugh or make a noise he tries to mimic us. It is hilarious to watch him groove to a beat. Every now and then I can get him to wave.

Doggy boys go to the park

Doggy boys have not gone to the dog park for a while now since Micah was born so we decided to treat them today. To our surprise they had made some upgrades to the park since our last visit. Prince seemed to love some of the upgrades. Micah liked seeing all of the different dogs. He especially seemed amused by the ones that ran around a lot.

Night out for pizza

On a whim we decided to go out to eat tonight. We had a taste for Mexican food, but ended up at this new pizza place. We had so much fun with the little guy here. Seeing Micah have fun at Incredible Pizza gives us so much more to look forward to as he gets older and can play the arcade games and ride on the rides. He had a blast, and so did we!

Virginia Tech

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all individuals effected by today's horrible events at Virginia Tech. This is a terrible day for America.

We too are stunned as I prepare to embark on my next collegiate endeavor.

Inspirational Christian Poems - Moment by Moment with Him

Sometimes we so easily forget,
How unpredictable our lives may be,
We make plans for our tomorrows and our futures,
Not realizing they could change instantly,

Then one day, you wake up, and it happens,
Something occurs that's not at all like you've planned,
Your life has now taken a new direction,
And it may be difficult for you to understand.

God never promised that we'd never have struggles,
That there would always be sunshine and not rain,
But He said He'd never leave nor forsake us,
And with His presence we will forever be sustained.

When God takes us from the height of the mountain,
And then places us in the valley of despair,
It's here we can learn total dependence,
Upon the One who will always be there.

Oftentimes it's only through the midst of the trials,
We see God works in ways we'd never have dreamed,
He accomplishes so much beyond our understanding,
And now things may not be at all what they'd seemed.

We may not know why God allowed such a hardship,
We must learn to trust in the One who knows best,
For our future is seen by Him only,
And in Him we can confidently rest.

So when the unexpected may arise in our lifetime,
And the way God is leading seems dim,
May we face it not ONE DAY at a time,
But instead, MOMENT BY MOMENT with Him.

Micah crawled today

I had a feeling that he could crawl, and he proved it today. I was playing on the floor with Micah and he just started crawling like he was a little pro. This boy just keeps on amazing us.

Now that he is crawling he wants to crawl to anything he can to pull up on it. He has us very nervous pulling up on things without good balance. It is like a game to him pulling up and then trying to reach out and take steps to other objects.

Hanging out

We decided to go to Southlake to Barnes & Noble to study and hangout. I did quite a bit of studying. It was so nice outside we spent the rest of the afternoon out there.

Micah went with his Dad in Barnes & Noble to play with the train. Then while outside he wanted to walk even though he does not know how.

Micah is 8 months old

Micah is a live wire now that he is more mobile. He can't stay still! Walking in his walker is almost mastered--still having problems turning too late. Scooting seems to be his preferred method of travel. Still no teeth yet. His most audible word to this date is still Dada and Daddy. When we try to get him to say Mommy or Mama he just laughs.

We are so proud of him for traveling to St. Louis with very little complaints. This kid is a trooper. On the way down he slept the whole way except for when we stopped. I think he handled that trip better than most adults.

Trip to St. Louis

It was a long trip in the car, but well worth it. Many of our questions were answered at the orientation, so that we can move forward in our preparations for our move. We enjoyed ourselves, and tried to treat the trip as a mini vacation even though we were there to handle business.

Thank you Kevin and Leslie

We want to thank you so much for all of your valuable advice, and for taking the time to help us around St. Louis. We will be seeing you soon!

Micah is 7 months

Micah still has no teeth yet. They seem to be stuck right below his gums and are not giving him any problems. He can now walk in his walker--looks like he moves like a spider (I call them Spidey steps). Now he is drinking from his cup like a champ, and eating solid food like a big boy. He is very vocal right now, and has to touch everything! He is now trying to crawl, but still seems to prefer to try to walk.

We think he is weaned!

Wow who knew? Just two days of going 'cold turkey', and Micah is OK with only having his cup now! He still gets breast milk just out of a cup now.

I was trying to gradually wean him, which Micah was fighting all the way. So his daddy thought I should try 'cold turkey'. I reluctantly tried, and to my surprise I only had to endure two days of crying, fighting, and tantrums. If it were longer than that I would not have been able to take it. Weaning Micah was just as hard on me emotionally and physically. For a minute I felt like I was weaning him from me, and breaking our bond, because he would be so upset with me.

I am glad to report that he is doing fine, and still seems to love his mommy more than ever. Now I can have peace of mind while I am at school that others can feed him just fine without him being so upset.

Hanging out with Dad

Mom and Dad stopped by after their anniversary dinner to see Micah. Terrance and I decided to take advantage of the chance to get out of the house, and let Micah spend some time with his granny B.

We took Dad out to the Mainevent. It was nice to be able to relax and have some fun. Since becoming a mommy my game playing skills have gotten real rusty!

Micah is 6 months old

Update: Micah now weighs 18 lbs. and is 26 inches. We are not sure that we agree this time. At home we measured him at 28 inches, and he feels like he weighs so much more than 18 lbs. He is solid!

We still can not believe it ourselves-Micah has already been here for half a year! Wow, where does the time go?

I will have an update on his measurements Tuesday after his doctor's appointment. Right now he seems to be teething. He has his fussy moments when hardly anything is soothing to him. We think that is when his gums are bothering him, because he generally is not a fussy baby.

Deal or no deal

Who knew that we would need to get rid of the RX-8 NOW? Terrance goes out to start the car and it won't start. He calls the dealership to have it towed, and is told about cold starts. The suggestion the clerk gave did not work. So off to the dealership the car went. The starter and the battery both had to be replaced. Mind you this car is only 3 years old and only has 24,000 miles on it.

To my disappointment Terrance and I both came to the conclusion that it would be in our best interest to get out of this vehicle before the warranty runs out. Too many other RX-8 owners were having the same problems, and for some it was a reoccurring problem. So much for thinking I would have my car for a long time. That car was so much fun to drive (if you have driven one then you know what I am talking about).

So now I am the proud owner of an SUV like so many other Americans. Don't get me wrong I love my new 4Runner but, I miss the RX-8.

I am glad that the decision making for picking out a new vehicle is over. It was difficult and painful for me. Finding a vehicle that would be practical for our family, is safe, and looks nice was not easy. Not to mention having to deal with the annoying sales people that want you to make an on the spot decision, and can't understand why a person would want to think about such a decision.

Terrance at home

It feels like it is the weekend all the time around here now since Terrance landed an at-home job. It is nice having him around-hope Micah and I don't run him back to the office.

Since today was his first full day at home we started our work out routine together again. I will keep you updated on how that is going. I am trying to lose almost 40 pounds! As you can see from my recent picture the poundage has stacked up after three foot surgeries and a baby. For starters we completed a jog/walk through one of the parks around here. Then completed some sit-ups, and push-ups. (Terrance didn't do his push-ups--he thinks I didn't catch that one). I surprised myself jogging a little, but the sit-ups were very disappointing to me. I think this is the worse I have ever been out of shape.

Terrance also tells me that tonight we are going to the gym also to either play basketball or lift weights. I hope I can walk tomorrow!

New look

I am not sure that I am liking the new look of the blog right now. I am still working on it. Let me know what you think.

Micah's first Christmas

We did not go all out this Christmas, because we figure we will have plenty of other Christmas times that Micah will actually remember. We did enjoy the company of our families and friends.

Angie's uncles visit 12-16-06

What a surprise two of my mother's brothers came to Texas for a visit. It was wonderful seeing them after so many years. Uncle Melvin and Carl also had a chance to meet Micah. I wish we had longer to visit with them.
